There's nothing more important than bringing in the new year with a BANG and a positive mental attitude might I add. With just a few more days until 2019 graces us with it's much welcome presence, we should be working hard to get our mindset right for the new year.
As women we have achieved so much in 2018 and will continue to do so with pure grace, conviction and utter badassery; with that being said we have collated some amazing quotes from some equally amazing and inspiring women that will teach, encourage and continue to push us to make history.
“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.”
"Feminism isn't about making women strong. Women are already strong. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength."
"You don't have to be pretty. You don't owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don't owe it to your mother, you don't owe it to your children, you don't owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked 'female.'"
"When women participate in the economy, everyone benefits"
"There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish."
"The strongest actions for a woman is to love herself, be herself and shine among those who never believe she could"
"A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men."
"No woman should be told she can't make decisions about her own body. When women's rights are under attack, we fight back."
"For I conclude that the enemy is not lipstick, but guilt itself; we deserve lipstick, if we want it, AND free speech; we deserve to be sexual AND serious – or whatever we please. We are entitled to wear cowboy boots to our own revolution."
“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute.”
"I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint – and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you."
“A strong woman understands that the gifts such as logic, decisiveness, and strength are just as feminine as intuition and emotional connection. She values and uses all of her gifts.”
“Women are leaders everywhere you look—from the CEO who runs a Fortune 500 company to the housewife who raises her children and heads her household. Our country was built by strong women, and we will continue to break down walls and defy stereotypes.”
“Taking joy in living is a woman’s best cosmetic.”
“We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.”
“I see explicit covers on magazines, and they’re getting even more explicit, and it’s like, Are women being empowered, or is this just what sells magazines? Are they feeling pressured, or have they really come into themselves and are saying, ‘I am woman, hear me roar?’”
“I have women coming up to me and saying: ‘I love your character! She’s so empowered. She takes control; she gets what she wants.’ That’s another side of her. And I respect that in Joan. She says and does things that I would never allow myself to do.”
“I can’t point to a single person or incident that changed my life, but the recognition that there is a certain world order, has been consequential. It has empowered me to do things my way. I found an inner truth by which I abide.”
“That’s not to say that women’s priorities are better than men’s. Rather, when women are empowered, when they can speak from the experience of their own lives, they often address different, previously neglected issues. And families and whole communities benefit.”
Dee Dee Myers
“I’m a liability to them – I’m a woman, I’m empowered, I’m an artist. I’ve had executives who can’t come to my shows they’re so scared of me. I’ve been a thorn in many people’s sides just by existing.”
“Giving women education, work, the ability to control their own income, inherit and own property, benefits the society. If a woman is empowered, her children and her family will be better off. If families prosper, the village prospers, and eventually so does the whole country.”
"I feel myself becoming the fearless person I have dreamt of being. Have I arrived? No. But I'm constantly evolving and challenging myself to be unafraid to make mistakes."
“A woman caring for her children; a woman striving to excel in the private sector; a woman partnering with her neighbors to make their street safer; a woman running for office to improve her country – they all have something to offer, and the more our societies empower women, the more we receive in return.”
Queen Rania of Jordan
