5 Foods That Actually Make You Tired

November 16, 2018

1. Bananas - did you know that bananas are rich in Potassium, which aids heart health and high in magnesium - which actually relaxes the muscles. Good for children before bed, but probably not the best thing to defeat your mid morning slump.

2. Salmon

Now since the dawn of day we have been instructed that fish is nothing but good for us, as it's packed full of Omega 3 fatty acids, but salmon is actually also rich in vitamin B6, which the body uses to make melatonin, which is a sleep hormone.

3. Pasta

Yes the carbohydrates are great for increasing energy, but essentially pasta is a very high glycemic food that spikes your blood sugar drastically. With this increase in glucose in your blood stream, this can quickly lead to a decrease in energy and result in tiredness.

4. Almonds

Now we all know that nuts and grains are good for us, but having just a small handful of almonds can send you straight to bed. You see almonds contain tryptophan and magnesium, which both help to naturally reduce muscle and nerve function while also steadying your heart rhythm.

5. Dark chocolate

No need to panic here, you can still consume dark chocolate both day and night, but do note that it does contain serotonin, which is pretty much the happy chemical that relaxes our bodies and mind.

No wonder why eating chocolates sends most of us to our happy place.
